I just bought an O'Neill Psych 2 and was stoked until the first time a wore it and saw a section on the chest panel where the glue was coming away.
Took it back to the shop (Surf Ride - Solana Beach), and whilst they said, yep, that O'Neill would fix it, it would take up to 2 months to get done. I now have to wait intil the end of the season to get it done or freeze my balls off for 8 weeks in a 2:1 shorty.
MORAL OF THE STORY - Check every seam, stitch, panel and glue spot before you buy a suit. Don't just assume that it'll be perfect. It may take 5 minutes but it could save you some grief in the end. The minute you take it out of the shop and into the water it's YOUR problem not theirs.
P.S I tried to persuade them to take it back by saying that i hadn't pissed in it yet but they still said no. Just as well, because i had ... twice. |

| last year my ripcurl ultimate elasto had a rip in it that I noticed just as I was checking out. Check over your wetsuit before you walk out the door. I went and got another one without a rip. By the way, the ripcurl ultimate elasto is a great wetsuit. I would highly recommend it. |

| I am in the market for a new suit. I used a ripcurl and really liked it. I would also like to check out a Quiksilver...Has anyone used one of those? Oniel wetsuit life just isn't what it should be. I have used them for 20 years...It may be time for change. |

| I have had anO'Neil and Quicksilver, but I am really sold on Ripcurl. Don't know which Ripcurl you have worn, but the F-Bomb is really nice. The only problem I can find with that suit is that the Batwing is detachable so when you are putting it on and stretching it, it often detaches...kind of a pain. Otherwise, that suit is warm and still very maneuverable in the arms for its warmth. |

the psycho 2 is pretty awesome. i have a 3/2 and it is no prob in temps to like 55. I had it on a few weeks back in santa cruz when the water was stinging my hands and it kept me warm. i shouldn't need a 4/3 this season for sd. one alternative would be to buy a 1 mil vest to go underneath of it.
one of the drawbacks is that its nearly a drysuit, nothing much gets in, and therefore, nothing much gets... out. so if yer warming up the water out there, you may be getting way more into "water sports" than you like.
Also, the fabric is a bit more fragile than with traditional wetsuits so it needs a little more tlc than you may be used to giving it.
Lastly, you should get a free lunch with the thing since they are damn expensive. I think they are around 400? I forget but the ripcurl bomb (or whatever that model is) is much less. |
