This might be a bit off topic, but I have been searching for a long time and I have hit the Wall!

I have been surfing in NJ mostly since the 60's. Put it this way since RonJon's was a white trailer on the causeway going to LBI! And I purchased my first Hansen. A long time.

Well due to some medical problems I really can't surf as much as I or anyone would like. So being "old school" and forced retired , I want to stay in touch and help some of the young kids starting out here.

It seems they have a lot of boards that are banged up, some slight dings, some major delams.

My question is where can a person go to learn how to repair surfboards.
I would like to learn from someone who knows what they are doing and I don't mind having to do the dirty work, I've been there before.

I found lots of places to build your own board, which I might do for myself, but I want to help these kids enjoy a sport that has been good to me and enjoy it without having to pay a ton of cash to do it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I live on the Jersey coast but am willing to travel to learn. One thing I have lots of is TIME!!!!!!

Thanks,
BRMGLD

Ding King in Encinitas, CA north of San Diego is a great place to get board repairs done. Their repairs are real high quality and the prices are very reasonable. I would give them a call and I am sure they wouldn't mind having someone sweep up for a few weeks and learn the basics from them...of curse you would have to travel to CA for a few weeks.
